Vaughn Johnson a native of West Oak Lane (WOL), Philadelphia, PA since 1979. This is when the Lengendary DJ Grand V style grew. I was introduced to the Disc Jockey Circuit at an early age starting off with Technics SL-MKII 1200 turntables and a powerful sound system. This was during the beginning stages of the Hip-Hop era. I formed my own group, Ultimate Force Productions, I was known as Vicious "V". As time passed on I met Clinton Brown a.k.a DJ COOL "C". We put another group together; ASTRO FUNK Productions, I changed my name to Philly's Own Dj Grand "V. My performances became so popular, to the point of being asked to perform in many Clubs and Dance Halls throughout the philadelphia area.
One of my biggest accomplishments was winning 1st place in the Battle of the DJ'S & Sound Systems in 1984 at Simon's Recreation Center. This is when my style took off with performances at: Rutgers University, starring the Beasties Boys, Eric B, & Cut Master DC, also Skateland In Camden Nj with K.R.S One, DJ Scott La Rock and Too Tuff Crew in Camden, New Jersey , too include Dancing Skate's : W.O.L Philadelphia, PA with Jazzy Jeff,Will Smith,Salt & Pepper, Public Enemy, Dana Dane, Steady B, "Cool "C", 3x's Dope, Herbie Love Bug, Kidd Destroy, & Cosmic Kev. Holy Soul's Hall In North Philadelphia, Pa with Jazzy Jeff, Will Smith & Cool "C". Wagners Ballroom, Philadelphia, Pa with Disco Rat, GQ George & Captain Boogie. Circus City In Norristown Pa, with The Fat Boys, Mix Master Flash & Pipeman. Commodore Barry Ballroom, Philadelphia, Pa with Kid-n-Play, Cool C and Jazzy Jeff. Wynne Plaza, Wynnefield. Pa with MC Sparky - D, DJ Cheese a.k.a King Kut, Schooly D (P.S.K.) & Steady "B". Zeigler Hall, Philadelphia, Pa with Dr. Jecklly and Mr. Hyde and Profile records and The Spectrum, Philadelphia, Pa. with The Mantroniks, Masrerdon Committee & DJ Cash money. These were the good ole days that I wanted to share with you and to let you know how serious I am.
